Portable stages: one of the lightest, strongest, most versatile staging systems

If you have ever wrestled a heavy, awkward stage into a venue, only to find it wobbling mid-performance, you already know what MyStage was built to fix. Our portable stages are one of the lightest per square foot, at just 42 lbs (19 kg) per 4 ft x 4 ft deck, and they deploy to a flat, stable performance surface in under 60 seconds. No tools. No crew. No compromise.

Protected by U.S. Patent 11,375,805 and engineered from aerospace-grade aluminum, MyStage portable staging systems are used by musicians, churches, schools, corporate event planners, DJs, photographers, yoga instructors and event producers across North America, indoors and outdoors.

Whether you need a portable stage for a one-time event, a permanent modular stage system, or a lightweight stage you can put in the back of an SUV, you have found it.

What is a portable stage?

A portable stage is a freestanding, raised platform that is assembled, taken down and moved without permanent installation. It can be set up in a school gym, an outdoor park, a hotel ballroom, a house of worship or a backyard, and broken down in minutes after the event.

The best portable stages are modular: individual decks connect to form a custom-sized platform. MyStage decks are 4 ft x 4 ft (1.22 m x 1.22 m), fold in half to 2 ft x 4 ft (0.61 m x 1.22 m) for storage, and connect without tools to build stages of any length, width or shape. Height adjusts from 4 in to 28 in (10 cm to 71 cm) with the integrated leg system.

Why event pros choose MyStage

The question we hear most: what are the real benefits of a portable stage over renting or building a fixed setup? Here is the honest breakdown.

1

Speed

A full 8 ft x 16 ft stage goes up in under 10 minutes with two people.

2

Cost savings

A one-time purchase ends ongoing rental fees. Most customers recoup their investment within 3 to 5 uses.

3

Light and portable

At 42 lbs (19 kg) per deck, one person can carry, load and set up the stage. It fits in an SUV, minivan or cargo van.

4

Adjustable height

Adjust from 4 in to 28 in (10 cm to 71 cm) for any floor, ground or sight line. The center leg cuts bounce.

5

Modular

Connect as many decks as you need: straight stages, L-shapes, T-stages, wide platforms or narrow risers.

6

Indoors and outdoors

The aluminum frame and non-slip deck work on gym floors, grass, asphalt, carpet and uneven ground.

7

Durable

Heavy-duty locking legs, aircraft-grade aluminum and a patented leg geometry that stops side-to-side sway.

How to set up a MyStage deck in under 60 seconds

Setup is simple. No tools, no loose pins and no assembly beyond these steps:

  1. Unfold the deck. It opens as you unfold it, and the legs lock into position.
  2. Set your height. Adjust the five legs to your target height, 4 in to 28 in (10 cm to 71 cm). Each leg adjusts on its own to make up for an uneven floor.
  3. Connect your decks. Join 4 ft x 4 ft units with the integrated coupling for one continuous surface.
  4. Add accessories. Clip on railings, attach skirting with the adhesive Velcro, and position the stairs. Done.

A 4 ft x 8 ft stage with one person: under 2 minutes. An 8 ft x 16 ft stage with stairs and railings: under 10 minutes.

Portable stage FAQs

What is a portable stage used for?

A portable stage creates a raised performance, presentation or display platform at any venue without permanent construction. Common uses include live music, church services, school plays and graduation ceremonies, corporate presentations, DJ sets, drum risers, trade shows, yoga and fitness classes, fashion shows, outdoor performances and photo shoots. Because MyStage is modular, the decks that make a band stage on Saturday can become a drum riser or display platform on Sunday.

What are the benefits of portable stages?

Fast setup (under 60 seconds per deck), no ongoing rental costs, real portability at 42 lbs (19 kg) per deck, height from 4 in to 28 in (10 cm to 71 cm), modular sizing and indoor and outdoor use. Compared with renting or building a fixed stage, a portable staging system like MyStage pays for itself within a few events and gives you full control over every setup.

What materials are portable stages made of?

MyStage portable stages use high-grade aerospace aluminum for the frame, legs and coupling system. The deck has a non-slip textured finish, and heavy-duty locking mechanisms secure the leg extensions. The result is a deck that weighs 42 lbs (19 kg) and is strong enough for full band, DJ or choir performances.

Are portable stages safe?

Yes, when properly assembled. MyStage uses a patented 5-point leg system (US Patent 11,375,805) with angled legs that stop side-to-side sway and a center leg that reduces bounce. For stages raised above 24 in (61 cm), we recommend perimeter railings. Always confirm venue-specific structural and safety requirements with your venue or event coordinator.

Can portable stages be used indoors and outdoors?

Yes. The adjustable legs make a flat, level surface on carpet, hardwood, grass, gravel, asphalt and uneven ground, and the aluminum frame is weather-resistant. For long outdoor use, store the decks in gear bags between events.

How much do portable stages cost?

A single MyStage 4 ft x 4 ft deck is US$659. Ready-made packages with railings, stairs and skirting run from US$4,499 for an 8 ft x 12 ft setup to US$5,999 for an 8 ft x 16 ft stage. Freight from our warehouse in Ajax, Ontario is quoted per order. For wholesale pricing and custom quotes, email pete@mystagecorp.com.

What size portable stage do I need?

It depends on the number of performers and the audience. A 4 ft x 8 ft platform (2 decks) suits a solo performer or a small presentation. An 8 ft x 8 ft stage (4 decks) is standard for a small band or worship team. An 8 ft x 16 ft stage (8 decks) handles a full band with a drum riser. Because MyStage is modular, you can start small and add decks later.

Does MyStage ship portable stages to Canada?

Yes, from our warehouse in Ajax, Ontario, to addresses across Canada except Quebec. Freight is quoted per order, so send us your postal code for a shipping estimate.

Are the prices in Canadian dollars?

No. Prices are in US dollars, and your card issuer converts the charge to Canadian dollars.

How do I work out how many decks I need?

Each deck covers 4 ft x 4 ft (1.22 m x 1.22 m). The Stage Builder sizes the stage and picks the decks for you.
